Spiraling roots
Dream image: A plant, with its roots spiraling down into the earth.
Interpretation: This dream was inspired by a similar one I heard at a dream group meeting the evening before and also by a painting that I had been working on of Pomona, who represents the fruits of the earth. The dream expresses how I feel about our deeply important connection to the earth.

I think you're very brave to put your dreams on the web.
ReplyDeleteJung says that it's very difficult to interpret our own dreams, and that a dream never tells us something that we already know.
I must say that I sometimes see your pictures quite differently to the way you do.
Take this one.
I grow a lot of all kinds of plants, but I don't know of any that have spiral roots. That doesn't mean you can't have spiral roots in a dream, because really strange images can occur in dreams.
But to me, at first glance, this painting looks a lot more like a snake.
Thanks for that insight, Robur. I have had dreams with snakes in the past, so perhaps the spiraling root is a disguised snake. I'll give that some thought . . . .
ReplyDeleteCorrection!
ReplyDeleteYou can get spiral roots. If a plant with a tap root is in a pot, that is too small for it, the root goes round and round.
So it can mean that the plant needs to be in a bigger pot, or removed from the pot altogether, and planted in the ground.
The idea of getting out of a pot could be about enlarging consciousness, or expanding your horizons in the outer world.
What a beautiful interpretation! Thank you, Robur.
