This image tells the story: an out of control mess.
The Dream: There are several pots of different sizes on the
stove. All are boiling over, making a big mess. It looks as if they all contain
the same thing, unappetizing ground meat in liquid. A man offers to help clean
up, but I want him to go away and leave me to do it in my own way, which I feel
will be more efficient.
Interpretation: I dislike cleaning up after others, and in
general dislike disorganization, mess, and clutter. Controlling the mess in my
environment is a way of controlling myself. Yet the mess is out of control in
this dream, with more than one pot boiling over. This “mess” is a metaphor for
a difficult family situation. The dream tells me not to expect to solve the
problem in any sort of practical way (with the help of the man, who represents
my masculine, logical side), but to leave its working out to my intuitive
(feminine) side.
I am curious about the meat. Meat (whether cooked or raw) has been a strong image in several women's dreams I've heard this past year. I'm curious - what associations/meanings do others ascribe to meat? thanks, Emily
ReplyDeleteHi Emily, Here are some of the associations for "meat" that come to mind for me: the meat of the matter (essence of the thing); the meat market (prostitution, as well as women as vehicles to sell goods and services); a play on words with "meet," in other words, what part of my self or my life an I meeting in this dream?; something necessary for sustenance (food) as well as the negative connotation of eating other possibly sentient beings.
ReplyDeleteHi Carla,
ReplyDeleteIn my dream several covered/controlled (lids of pots) parts of me (pots different sizes) feel the pressure to deal with overflowing hot, uncontrolled effusions (overboiling mess), coming from the base (hot stove). I dismiss the aid of my rational side (man) because I feel (!) doing it my way will be more effective.
Best regards,
Octavia
P.S.
ReplyDeleteI just ´know´ why I don’t want my rational side to help cleaning up the mess, because the cause (source), not the effect (mess) of the problem, needs to be addressed. I feel that the problem most likely is the heat that generates the pressure (and boils the contents of the pot into an amorphous hot, overboiling mush).
I’ll just have turn down the heat a bit.
Best regards,
Octavia
